Local Sights - Beyond BathAlthough you may want to base your stay around exploring Bath, the counties of southern England also offer a wealth of interesting attractions and activities to suit every need. Despite its cosmopolitan atmosphere, the city of Bath is actually surrounded on all sides by areas of natual beauty including: the Cotswolds, the Mendip Hills, and the flat plains of the west Wiltshire countryside. Each one of these areas is home to a number of sites to be explored. However, many vistors are happy mearly to savour the wonderful landscapes this area has to offer. We've created a list of some of the most popular destinations in the region below:
Located
north of Salisbury (40 miles/65km from Bath) the "henge" is a set of massive standing stones which are believed
to have been erected between 2500BC and 2000BC. Called a 'Wonder of the World', the stones (pictured right) are
a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and are a "must see" for any visitor to the area. For more information visit the

the town of Bradford-upon-Avon (pictured) is
definately worth a visit for it's historic buildings, shops, pubs and restaurants. Excellent walks can be found
